  ACROSS TANZANIA EXPEDITIONS

Announcement
Just this November, 2008, Hezron has received the honor from the Tanzanian Tour guide association to be chosen as the Chair of all the Tanzanian Safari Guides  within Tanzania as a result of his outstanding performance over an extended period of time.

TWO AND THREE DAY CULTURAL TOURS CAN BE COMBINED WITH ANY OF OUR SAFARI ITINERARIES: We have created this in order to make the safari more active after sitting in the vehicle for hours of game viewing.  it offers clients the opportunity to learn more about the local people and their natural ways of living and feel the surroundings around them first hand.

Day 1:

  • Lake Eyasi, located south of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, is a wild and remote location, home to small groups of Hadzabe bushmen. Their language resembles the click languages of other bushmen further south in the Kalahari.
  • En route we will visit the Watindiga tribe (hunting tribe), and have a picnic lunch.
  • We will arrive at Lake Eyasi Campsite and home of the Watatoga tribe late in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:

  • After breakfast, we will visit the Watatoga Tribe and learn their ways of living.
  • We will then climb a small mountain, and have our picnic lunch with a wonderful view of the lake and its surroundings.
  • After lunch, we will visit the Watatoga Tribe who live entirely off the bush and from hunting, generally small antelopes and baboons, although in rainy seasons gazelles and antelopes come down from the Ngorongoro or Serengeti to their then lush bush lands offering them richer game. A few hours spent with the bushmen makes the apparently unhospitable bush country come to life, and to watch them hunt is a unique experience as they stealthily spot, creep up on, and kill their prey.
  • Dinner and Overnight at Lake Eyasi tented lodge.

Day 3:

  • After breakfast, we transfer back to Moshi via Meserani Snake Park where there is a collection of some of the most fascinating snakes and other reptiles in Africa. The Snake park has provided a new attraction for visitors on the northern Tanzania tourist circuit.
  • Picnic Lunch, then proceed to Arusha for overnight.

OR

Day 1:

  • Transfer to Arusha National Park for a half day walking tour which involves bird watching.
  • After a picnic lunch, the rest of the day can be spent game viewing.
  • Dinner and Overnight at Momella Lodge.
  • Lying between the peaks of Kilimanjaro and Meru, Arusha National Park is an outstandingly beautiful area. The Park has a wide range of habitats, from the string of crater lakes where many water birds can be observed, through the highland montain forest and on up to the imposing summit of Mt. Meru. As you ascend the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, you will be rewarded with unparalleled views of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Rift Valley. The tour of Arusha National Park covers the Momella Lakes, where an abundance of aquatic birds are  located.

Day 2:

  • After breakfast, transfer to Lake Duluti.
  • Walking Tour around the lake, learning about the vegetation and bird life.

THE WALK: The walks at Lake Duluti can be arranged with either picnic lunches or lunch at the Mountain Village Hotel next to Lake Duluti. From the hotel you should have a nice view of Kilimanjaro! However, the clouds determine visibility, even in the early morning and towards the evening, when they are supposed to lift a bit. Towards mid-morning, we take a walk around the lake. We have a professional guide, very assertive, willing to inform you not only about the lake – an imploded volcano - the plants, the animals, but also about Tanzania and its people. After your picnic lunch, you can watch the birds return to their nests in the reeds. The walk is very comfortable through the reserve with clearly defined tracks.
