Day 6:

  • Sunrise adventure to the western corridor
It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge, or crocodile infested river can hold them back.
  • Picnic lunch in the Park
  • Afternoon game drive at Serengeti National Park
  • Dinner and overnight at Grumeti River Camp
In the seclusion of the Serengeti’s western corridor lies the splendidly extravagant Grumeti River Camp. Alongside a tributary of the Grumeti River the camp overlooks the dramatic spectacle of vast herds of wildebeest plunging through the waters on their annual migration, running the gauntlet of enormous crocodile and angry hippo in their eagerness to travel north. Intimately small, there are just ten tented suites with en-suite bathrooms and showers open to the stars.
